Some people going for early morning prayers in a mosque around the Halleluyah Estate in the Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, on Wednesday, were attacked by some security guards working in the area.

Sources in the area told our correspondent that the incident happened around 5.30am.

An eyewitness, Taiwo Olawoore, who was also going to the mosque at the time of the incident, said the residents heard several gunshots, which made people run in different directions to escape being shot.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Folasade Odoro, said a suspect, Abdulazeez Abdulahi, aged 27 years, was in custody in connection with the incident.

“We got a distress call from the area and we promptly responded. We made an arrest and the person arrested is being interrogated,” Odoro said.

She explained that the man, who was arrested with a dane gun, was a guard hired by the community to provide security at night.
